2. What is your ministry currently doing?
a. The ministry promotes the rich Filipino heritage and values through religious celebration. e.g. Simbang Gabi. Simbang Gabi is celebrated during Advent and participated by parishioners who are Filipinos and non-Filipinos. It has become a diverse celebration, with the participation of the children’s choir, and parishioners from our parish and other parishes.
b. The Filipino choir volunteers every Saturday at the Vigil Masses, Holy Days Masses (e.g. Christmas, Easter Sunday, Good Friday Service, Feast of Assumption, etc.); and as requested by the priests and liturgy office to serve at masses and services.
c. The Filipino choir serves annually at the Feast of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and Feast of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. We also participate in providing food for the fellowship after the mass.
d. The Filipino choir visits Chapman Convalescent Home annually singing carols to the residence and staff at Christmas time.
e. The Filipino choir sings the chaplet of Divine Mercy annually in the parish. The choir and other Filipino parishioners provide food for the fellowship after the Holy Hour.
f. We assist our pastor and priests in promoting activities which encouraged Filipinos to participate in events/programs of the parish.
g. We support Diocesan Filipino Ministry events/celebrations. e.g. Pagdiriwang 2014. Pagdiriwang is a fundraising event that showcase the Filipino rich cultural heritage through singing and dancing performances. Proceeds of the event support education of seminarians, scholarship of underprivileged students, and the Philippines Medical Mission.
h. The Filipino Ministry participates in providing soup and bread during Lenten soup suppers in the parish.
i. We help in providing food for the Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.
j. We come together biweekly to pray the Divine Mercy novena and the Holy Rosary. Other parishioners are invited to attend in any of our gatherings.
